March Blog Hop Challenge

                         Blog_hop_march_2008_2

Welcome Blog Hoppers!!  Here is my entry for the BLOG HOP Challenge!!  As you may be aware it was my ribbon card that Nichole said was the inspiration for this months challenge.  Here is the card if you haven't already seen it.  I was quite thrilled about that as you can imagine.

I couldn't think of anything not done before so instead of reinventing the wheel I decided to just make something pretty!  I figured something different for me would be to make a gift bag as I haven't done many of those before  You can't go wrong with rows of pretty ribbon and gorgeous bows, right?!?!  I wanted to make some kind of embellishment and I was lucky enough to receive a quart size jar of buttons from my mom recently.  These were close at hand so I made a button flower and used the ribbon for the stem and leaves.  The flower is actually a tag and is hanging from the handle rather than glued in place.  I also stamped the "Celebrate" sentiment from the Women of Life set.  It really is a cute little gift bag (too bad I will never give it away as I am a hoarder).  I hope the photo does it justice....it only took me 60 tries to get a good picture!  LOL.   Funny thing is I remember telling a male coworker of mine a while ago that it is cheaper to make your own gift bag.  I take that back.....hahaha!

Have fun Blog Hopping everyone.  I can't wait to see what you all have made.  Don't you just love the Papertrey community?  Thanks for stopping by!

It's been almost 3 weeks......

                         Trixies_2

....since I have been able to make a card but I found this one I did a couple months ago for a coworker to give to her friend.  It was for a 50th birthday and had to include a few elements such as the martini, the dog (she has that breed of dog), her nickname....Trixie and her love of traveling.  This is what I came up with and I hope she liked it.  I don't know her and she lives in Toronto so I may never know.  Anywhoo, I just thought I would share something!  Believe me...this basement cannot get finished fast enough!!

Be sure to come back Tuesday evening.  If you are not already aware Papertrey is starting something new called a Blog Hop Challenge and this month it is to use Ribbon as a focal point.  I am still SO excited that my Ribbon Card was the inspiration for this months challenge.  I made my new ribbon project today and I will post it Tuesday evening (6pm EST) but I found it difficult to come up with something new.  The pressure was on!!  LOL.  I can't wait to see what the other bloggers who signed up come up with.  Have a great Monday and I'll see you soon!

Awwww....Thank you Kristy!

Hi everyone!  Did you all make it to the Papertrey release party last night?  I did and it was so much fun.  Now I am waiting in anticipation for my order to arrive!  Last night I "met" Kristy.  She saw my ribbon card and asked if she could feature it on the Inspiration blog.  Of course I said yes....what an honor!  That just made me so happy!!    My card didn't win the Papertrey contest but this sure made my day.  Thanks Kristy.    daisy   If you scroll down a few posts you can see the ribbon card.

Today I had plans to shop and be productive but we woke up to a bit of snow and my mind went straight to lazy mode.  Gotta love those days!!

ETA:  Yippee!! I received Honorable Mention for my ribbon card on Nichole's blog.  Thanks so much Nichole!!   Aaaannnd....... Nichole used it as her inspiration for the first Papertrey Blog Hop Challenge that was announced.  You can't even imagine how excited I am about that.  The challenge for this month is to use ribbon as a focal point.  You can read more about it ----->>>> HERE.  Have I mentioned before that I LOVE Papertrey?  You might have figured that out already but I thought I would mention it again....just in case.  LOL.   Have a wonderful day everyone!!  Thanks for visiting.

Baby Girl Onesie

                         Baby_onesie_2

This is a card I made for a coworker that we had a baby shower for yesterday.  The onesie is made using Lauren's tutorial here.  I made the onesie quite small and attached it to the front of a card.  This way there was lots of room for everyone to sign when we passed the card around.  I love the pink and green together.  So girly!  The little brad says "It's a girl" and I got it from the loonie store.

I haven't stamped in over a week.  I am so sad.  All my stuff is still packed up because of the basement development but it is moving along so smoothly.  The painter was here tonight to do the priming of the drywall.  She is so detail orientated and even just the tinted primer looks amazing.  Our finishing carpenter is coming on Monday to do our baseboards, doors in the entire house, trim work and some custom built cabinet doors!!  It is very hard to find good trades these days so I feel very lucky with how this is all working out.  I still say the hardest part is going to be arranging storage and workspace.  I don't when I will be able to post again but hopefully soon I can rummage for a few things in the boxes and create something.  I can't wait for the basement to be done so I can stamp, stamp, stamp!  Have a wonderful Friday everyone.  I know how I will be spending my Friday evening.....Hanging out at the Papertrey release party of course.  See you there?

Baby Boy Carriage

                         Baby_carriage

OK, so that last card I posted had to go.  My good friend Kristina ( Hi KS ) told me it looked like a fish when she first saw it.  Kristina...you are nothing if not honest!! (I think I will give it to you for your birthday).  So I asked another friend, Stephanie, and my better half and sure enough....fish!  LOL.   So let me just move on and show you this cutie patootie card.  I cased this baby carriage from Miss Niki.  She gives this amazing tutorial...here.  Isn't that the cutest thing ever!?  Thank you for such a great idea Niki.

I made this for a coworker who is having a boy.  The card was being passed around the office for signing so the little carriage itself was not big enough for that.  So I attached the front of the carriage to quite a large card base.  I did the same idea with Laurens baby onesie card for another coworker who is having a girl.  We are having a combined baby shower for them on Wednesday at work because they are both going on early maternity leave.  I will post the girly one next time.  Thanks for looking!!  Oh and THANK YOU for such amazing comments and response to my ribbon card (2 posts below).  I am so glad you loved it!

Polka Dots & a Flower

                         Polka_dots_and_a_flower

Yay, it's Monday!  Hahaha....JUST kidding!  I hope you all had a great weekend though.  It was a little strange for me not being able to stamp.  I have no idea what I did all weekend now that I think about it.

This card is one that I made last weekend.  It was inspired by Pine's scrapbook page you can see here .  I didn't have any linen thread that she used so the best I could come up with was using Papertreys new twill.  I have since bought some thin hemp cord at the loonie store (yeah, that's what we call our dollar (a coin) here in Canada....lol).  I used my Nestabilities to cut the circle in the centre of the card as well as the scallop I outlined it with.  The dots are Papertrey's Polka Dot background.  I used the Aqua Mist ink on Aqua Mist cardstock.   Brenda, if you are reading this you neeeeed this set!  Lastly the inside of the card was lined with the same dp as the scallop.  Easy Peasy.  That's it, that's all.

The sneak peeks for Papertreys March 15th release started today on Nicholes blog.  It's like Christmas for me every month!!  Have a really great day everyone!

Papertrey Ribbon--So beautiful...No stamping required!

                         Papertrey_ribbon_1_2

I received my order last week and I can't even begin to tell you how much I love Papertrey's new ribbon.  So much so that I just had to showcase it.  I cut a piece of sturdy cardstock and several strips of the different style ribbon.  I used a runner tape to attach the ribbon on the back of one side and the top and then just over lapped them, alternating each one to come up with this quilted looking pattern.  The "image" is popped up on dimensionals.  The cardstock is the new Spring Moss and Aqua Mist which is just such fresh and rich colors.  I had this ribbon slide that I placed on the Aqua Mist grograin before tying the bow.  That cute little white velvet flower is from...you guessed it....a past Papertrey order.

I just realized the next Papertrey release is only 9 days away!  That is crazy!  The shipping takes quite some time to get to Canada so I don't get much use before I am already looking forward to the sneak peeks and the new items.  I did choose the Woman of Life set as my free gift for winning the January Guest Star Stamper but I haven't received that yet.  I do look forward to playing with it when it comes.  I also look forward to having a real workspace.  The basement drywall is coming along great!   Have a wonderful day.  Thank you for stopping by!!

Friends

                         Friends_2

I bought these crocheted flowers quite some time ago when I saw Kristina Werner use them on one of her cards.  Of course I had to buy them in all the colors.  I have wanted to use them ever since I got them but I found they really are not easy to use on a card.  It was bit hard to make one where it looks just right but I do like how this turned out.  The card base is my new wonderful Spring Moss card stock from Papertrey as is the ribbon.  This is an amazing color.  It goes so well with Old Olive, don't you think?  The 4 squares are all Basic Grey dp from the same 6x6 pack so they co-ordinate pretty well.  The sentiment is from Papertreys Just Hatched set.  Also I raised up the Old Olive and the panel of squares on dimensionals.  Love it!  I hope you do too.

Well, my basement is completely packed up.  Not a single craft item accessible at the moment.  Sad, but true!  It's all for the good though.  Bring on the drywallers...LOL!  I did make 6 cards on Saturday so I do have some ready to post in the meantime.  Have a great day everyone!  See you soon.

Hi Elzybell

                         Elzybell_swing_2

Hi Everyone!  I wish I could say I stamped yesterday.  It was my day off after all but I just wasn't inspired.  I did make these 2 cards last weekend so I am happy I have something to share with you today.  I just bought this Elzybell at my LSS.  She is too cute.  However, I am in desperate need for a good skin color marker.  I am sure Copic is the answer but does anyone have any suggestions on a color number?  The ribbon is SU Soft Sky and I love that little rabbit ears way to tie a bow with it.  The flowers are Marvy punches.  Oh Brenda....I was able to find the small one at WalMart...Thank you!

                         Hi_3

This 2nd card is uber simple.  I used the SU dp for the card base and stamped the little flowers side by side.  A few eyelets, some bargain American Crafts ribbon ($1.29...hello!!)and the cute little alphabet brads and it's a cheerful little card that can be used just 'cause!

I am going to have to hurry and get some stamping done this weekend as I may have to pack up every single bit of my stuff very soon.  If luck is on my side our drywallers are coming on Tuesday (or worst case a couple of weeks from now).   What I haven't mentioned before is we are developing our basement right now so I can have a proper craft space.  I can't wait and I have been researching alot of pics of stamp spaces for ideas.  One of these days I hope to have a great before and after post for you.  However, after drywall there is still finishing carpentry, carpeting, painting and then the hardest of all....choosing storage and layout of the space.  Did I mention I can't wait?!?!?  Have a wonderful weekend!
