Hey everyone.  OMGosh I can't believe it's Friday already but I am not complaining. It's going to be beautiful and hot!! {well hot for Canada}.  When I saw Maria's challenge was to use plaid I was nervous cause I almost didn't even know what plaid looked like....thank goodness for Google.  And lucky me...I found I DO have a piece of plaid paper that was sent to me in one of my goodie boxes from CARDS magazine.  This all worked out perfectly because I need a b-day card for my nephew who's turning 9 in June.  I don't think I have to worry about him seeing this post...he's way too busy for Auntie's card stuff.  haha.

                     

The only thing I wish I hadn't done is the zig zag stitch.  What was I thinking?   Anywho...please check out my Loonie girls to see their pleasing plaid creations!!

Oh and on a totally random note....I wanted to share with you what I bought myself yesterday.  I have a thing for pedestal cake plates.  I don't know that you could say I am a 'collector' but this will be my 9th one.  Most are clear glass but I have a few that are painted. I saw this at Pier One and could not return home without it.  Now I just have to make a yummy dessert to put on it.  Wanna come over for dinner and dessert?!!

Elzybells Fortnight DT challenge - RECYCLE

                                  

That's right....we are going green.  Fellow DT member Kim chose this goodie for us today.  Your challenge is to RECYCLE----interpret as you wish. 

I took these 2 items....an empty cardboard cheese tray and the packaging from my perfume and lotion......

                        

......and made this cute little "note holder".  I covered the empty cheese container with some amazing Cosmo Cricket Early bird paper, ribbon and embellies.  The Elzybells stamp I used for the top was just perfect don't you think?  The flower pot and "just a little note" sentiment are from the Mini Messages - A Little Hello stamp set.  We all have a ton of dp that we will never use on a card right?  Well I used my spellbinders nesties to cut a bunch of it to be used as little note papers.  I just love how this turned out and now I have a little gift for when I need one.  In fact I think my SIL will get this little box and I will make one for my MIL for when I see them in June.

                    

On this close up you can see the scalloped blue edge which is from the perfume boxes also cut using my nesties.  They are such nice velvet-y boxes that I couldn't bear to throw them away.  I am so glad I got to use it.  Thanks Kim for such a fun project that had me thinking of ways to recycle stuff I have around the house.

May Blog Hop Challenge

     

I can't remember the last Blog Hop I participated in.  I just never seem to remember until it's too late.  But when I saw the challenge was yellow this time I made a point to remember.  Green is actually my favorite colour but there is something about yellow that I just love.  Especially Papertrey's yellows---LOVE 'em!

    

The sentiment is from Ali Edwards 'Loving Words' stamps.  Amazing set.  The bow took me about 100 tries.  Then I can never remember how I did it so the next time I do a bow it takes me another 100 tries.  Haha.

   

Ironically the only Papertrey product on the above card was the red cardstock so I decided I better do another.  Isn't Papertrey's Lemon Tart color just so sun shiny happy??  It makes me smile.  Thanks for stopping by.  Have a fun time blog hopping!!

 

Happy Sunday

    

Just a quick card to share today.  Yesterday my crazy GF's and I had a shoe box swap and this was my card.  I made them sew and they did GREAT.  A very fun day.  I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend and relaxing on this amazing beautiful Sunday.  I am going to be planting my bedding out plants today.  They have been in my kitchen for 2 weeks now so it's time to get them outside and the weather is finally cooperating. 

Loonie Stampers Challenge - STARS

                                        

Stars Stars Stars.  Dee wanted us to use STARS in our challenge today.  Fabulous idea my dear!!  Sorry I am late getting mine up but I only did it at 2AM and needed to wait for daylight to snap a pic.  I made my card into a Graduation card for our nephew.  Nice to have it done a month early!! 

                                        

And here's a close up so that you can see the dp also has mini stars in it.  I love it when things like that work out!   Let's see what the girls have going on with their STAR cards today......

I Don't Know About You But............

I am super excited that the new Elzybells stamps are now available!!  Be sure to go check out all the new images....there is a ton of 'em and they are WONDERFUL!!  Today I have a final sneak peek for you.

Now I know this wouldn't be for everyone but it truly is for my dad.  Ever since I can remember this was his favorite candy and us kids would always buy him a box for Fathers Day or Christmas.  Big spenders hey??  Haha.  Anywho...I had alot of fun doing it.  The dp is made using the new Man's World Multi stamp.  The tag is actually just a chipboard coaster I cut down to the shape of a tag, painted with brown and then cream acrylic paint.  Once it was dry I stamped the image in dark brown ink.   Here's a little close up. 

                   

The card uses the same image in which I paper pieced the chair and colored Snoozing Ted with Koh-i-noor pencils.  I love the retro look of the colors and the dp.  The sentiment was a section cut out from the Man's World Multi stamp. 

            

Now the big question.  Can I keep myself from opening that box of Whoppers before I give them to my dad??  I hope you enjoyed this weeks sneak peeks.  I enjoyed making and sharing them.  Thank you so much for all your amazing kind comments.  You all have totally made my week!!! 

               

Elzybells Release ---- Day 3!!!

                                

When my sister has her baby in October she will have 3 little ones under 3 1/2 years old.  That means alot of baby teeth in her future so when I first saw this little Tooth Fairy Bear and the sentiment, being released by Elzybells, I wanted to make the kids some special little tooth fairy boxes. 

                   

I made a pink one this time and will make each baby their own color.  I painted the plain wooden box I picked up from Michaels, added some lace and some adorable flowers in the shadow box area of the lid.  I kept it very simple with no real embellishments on the outside.  Less to fall off over the years of use this little box might see.  I just LOVE those little forget me not flowers, don't you?

                  

I sewed a little square of felt for a special place for the teeny tiny teeth to go in to before my niece places the box under her pillow at bed time. 

                 

The sentiment is so CA-UTE!  I stamped it and sewed around the edge before adhering it to the inside of the box.  I think the tooth fairy will have no problem knowing where to leave the money behind.  How fun for the kids to wake up to find a special little payment left behind. 

                 

And now for the sweet little Elzybells tooth fairy bear.  I paper pieced her.  I have to admit I am such a chicken at colouring so I cheat and piece whenever I can.  The 3 rows of dp are layered slightly over each other and looks really cute.  For the shimmery wings I rubbed some liquid pearls on but you have to work quick as it dries fast. 

                 

However speaking of colouring....did you see that Elizabeth is now carrying Koh-i-noor pencils?  She has them on special right now and you can read about that here.  You just have to check out Elizabeth's coloring tutorials which you can find on her side bar.  They are fantastic.   I hope you enjoyed my sneak peek today. Elzybells - Day 2

                                   

Hi Everyone....I hope you had a really great weekend.  Monday was a stat holiday for us.  We went to my parents for the weekend and it was nice and relaxing.  There was no internet availability....eeek!....but it made for a nice break too!

Today I want to share a card and little treat bag I made using the new Elzybells Footie Ted.  He is SO cute!  Here in Canada we call "football" soccer but I think "football" makes way more sense.  But I am the farthest thing from a sporty girl so what do I know.  Haha.

                     

I don't usually use such bright colors but this card was SO much fun for me because of the colors.  I really love how bright and happy it turned out.

                        

The individual football stamp is also a new Elzybells release as well as the sentiment.  The size of the football stamp worked perfectly on these mini Reeses Peanut Butter cups which I had left over from Easter.  I know~~~~I can't believe I didn't eat them all yet either.  Heehee.  I crossed out the word FOOTBALL and wrote in Chocolate.  Couldn't help myself!

Day 1 --Elzybells May Release!!

                                    

Yay Yay Yay!!  It's that time!!  Elzybells has a ton of CA-UTE stamps being released on Thursday May 21 and you are going to looooove them.  

There is NO way this tie would win an ugly tie contest!  It is just too cute!  Heehee.   I stamped the new Man's World Multi a few times on my cardstock and then hand drew the shape of the tie and cut it out.  Easy Peasy!  I absolutely love all of Elzybells multi stamps and there are a few more I neeeeeeed to get.  The Happy Fathers Day stamp is also a new release.  I always love the Elzy fonts.  Elizabeth picks the perfect style for her sentiments doesn't she?

Loonie Stampers Challenge #40

                            

How cute is the image on that gift card??!!!  Love it Regs....good choice for our challenge.  What I was attracted to for this challenge was the color of the blue and of course the birds.  I do love birds!!  Anywho...here's my card.  I can't wait to see what the girls did for this fun challenge!
