Aluminum Foil?!! Are you CRAZY? Well that's what I first thought and I emailed Maria to swear at her for coming up with this nutty idea. Haha. Just kidding....I ended up loving it, to be honest. Can I also just say that our little challenge map above was made by Wendy's 12 yr old daughter, Joely. I am so impressed! Thank you so much Joely. You rock kiddo!!!
Right away I thought of the art work that I have hanging in my dining room. These are framed antique tin ceiling tiles from Tin House Designs in Russell, Manitoba, Canada. I don't have much hanging on my walls in my house as I have issues...haha. I need to really really love something to make a hole in my walls. These passed that test.
Sorry for the glaring picture. Here's a close up of the centre frame. You can see the different designs, sizes and prices on his website. I have the 22 x 22 size and I just noticed some 24 x 24 that must be new to his gallery and I LOVE them. OH MY!
Anywhooo.....now that you saw what I used as my inspiration for Aluminum Foil here's what I made.
I just love how these turned out!! I ran some tin foil thru my cuttlebug with different embossing folders. Skys the limit here people. Then I cut out a centre square from the white card stock using my nestabilities so I could adhere the embossed tin foil behind the "mat" to create a frame. I was really tempted to stamp a sentiment on these but decided I liked the clean lined simple look. I think these would look great framed and hung on the wall just like my real antique tin tiles do....just much smaller. These cards are 5 x 5.
Now if you have never played the Loonie Stampers challenge I think this is a great time for you to start. Show us what you can do with tin foil!!! Be sure to add a link in my comments to your aluminum creation and we will come running to check it out. In the meantime you may want to visit the Loonies for some "tin" inspiration. Let me know if you have any questions.
