Loonie Stampers Challenge

 

Hi Friends! Here's my LSC card for the week.  It's a single layer card.  If you have stamps or a rub on you CAN SO do this!  We tease poor Wendy that she's killing trees with her layers so I can't wait to see what she creates for her one layer card.  

I have pre-scheduled this post as I am currently in Rehoboth Beach with my Loonie Stampers friends (we miss you Jewels!).  I am hoping the weather is good and I am hoping the shopping is even better!  But even more so I am excited that us girls finally arranged to get together and meet in real life.  They are amazing woman these crazy friends of mine and there is no question we are having a good time.  I hope you had a good week and have some fun plans for the weekend.  I'll see you next week.  Don't forget to get yourself ready for World Card Making day! 

   

My rub on is a copper colour and you can see the shine in this photo~~but please don't notice the little "nik" I made in the top petal.  Seriously...don't look.  Can you tell I watched a bunch of KWerner videos before I made this?  I just couldn't stop with the faux stitching.  Haha.

Elzybells Design Team Challenge #28

                                        

This week our challenge is to CASE another DT members cards.  Fun yes, but so hard to pick from all the awesome DT's work.   I went with THIS card from Francis and put my own little spin on it.   I should also point out the the tree stamp is actually from the newly released Decorating Teddy stamp but I cut the tree out and used it without the little bear.  2 in 1 stamps!  Gotta like that.

Loonie Stampers #58

                                     

HAPPY FRIDAY!  I think it's going to be a good day people!  Wendy and I are going to meet Jewels for lunch today as she's in the city for a wedding.  This is great because Jewels isn't able to come with us to Delaware to meet up with the rest of the Loonies next week.  Totally random question~~~Does everybody know why we are called the Loonies??  Well, here in Canada our $1 is a coin that has a picture of a Loon on it.....it's just always been called a Loonie as slang and our $2 coin called a Toonie.   Oh yeah, I am just a wealth of interesting information like that!  Haha.  Anywho....I thought since the girls are CRAZY the name suited us since we were all Canadian...until we met Maria and forced her to be our friend.  Good thing too because now we get to go to her family condo at the beach for a mini vaca! HA!

Elzybells Sneak Peek --- Day 3!!

                                      

We're getting close!  Just one more sleep for all the new Elzybells to be available.  Thanks for stopping by again so I can share a few more cards for the sneak peek.  Are you loving the new Elzybells stamps?  I'd love to hear what your favorites are.

                 

This little witchy is soooo cute!  I stamped her and coloured her on some Basic Grey paper (Lemonade collection I believe) and then went over the ink with a blender pen so the look is sort of intentional even though it looks like I coloured like a 3 yr old.  Don't judge.  haha.

                  

One of the sets that Elizabethis releasing is Bubble Greetings...it has sentiments such as Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas done in that great bubble type of font that we all did as a kid when doodling (right Steph?!).  It's NOT an alphabet set however I found it had all the letters I required to create "CARE for A BITE" so I stamped them and cut them out.  How FUN is that!             

             

As you can see with the witch and the dracula I coloured and then cut them out so they kind of look like a die cut (IMO anyway).  It's just a nice change from the stamped and layered look.  Give it a try and see what you can cut out and pop up on your cards.

                   

Now this last card has ZERO cutting or popping up.  It's a one layer card (yes Wendy, these are possible!).  This card uses 3 new stamps, the Snowflake Frame, Teddy decorating tree and the Beary Merry sentiment.

Elzybells Sneak Peek Day 2

                                       

I bought a HUGE bag of caramels....thinking I will take them to work to share in a candy dish (if they ever make it there!).  On the back of the bag there is a recipe for Caramel Apples.  What's a girl to do?!!  Check it out.

                         My apple tree didn't produce much this year.

                  

                                     But I think they are pretty!

                  

                                       Take some of these.....

                 (25 caramels and 1.5 tblsp of whipping cream for 4 apples)

                    

                            Melt them in the microwave and do this. 

                    

How YUMMY do these look?!!  Truth be told...my apples make for amazing pies but I didn't know if they would be good for these.  BUT I am eating one right now and they are so YUMMY!!!

                  

             Ta da!  You were waiting for the Elzybells part weren't you?  haha 

            

                  

Here's a set of mini cards I made using Mini Message - Happy Haunting.  It's a clear set of 7 images, 2 circle word frames and many mini sentiments.  Adorable stamps!

Pickles and Buttons

Thanks so much to everyone who commented about the buttons and salsa.  I see there are many people with the same mind set as me.....that you can never have too many buttons (and we all love salsa..haha).  One day I will show you all my buttons.  And my craft room for that matter.... if I ever clean it up.

I asked Mike to pick 2 numbers between 1 and 34.  He chose #8 and #28.  Well Regan is already going to be getting some when I see her in Delaware next week so he picked another.....#11.

That's a lot of salsa - looks yummy! I made some this year, but not that much! I also made some dill pickled beans! I would LOVE to have some buttons - never can have too many!

#28 - REGAN---Girlfriend your's are being hand delivered by yours truly.....and no I am not bringing jars of salsa on the flight...haha.

those buttons look almost as yummy as that salsa!!! mmmm!!! i've love me some buttons ~ those are ADORABLE!!!!

Congrats Ladies.  I will send you emails for your addresses (or you can email me if you see this first) and I will send you a cups worth of button goodness!

To further update you on our "canning" adventures........Steph and I made dill pickles and dilled beans on Sunday.  We won't know how they taste or turn out for approx 4-6 weeks but just like the salsa we enjoyed the process.   In total we made 16 one litre jars of pickles and 6 pints of green/yellow beans.  We put a hot red peppers in 6 jars of cukes just for an experiment.  I love how it looks in the jar and hopefully we will get some spicy dill pickles.   

                 

For anyone who's interested in the Salsa recipe that we used the other day...here it is.  I do recommend that you use this just as a base and add to your taste.  I got the recipe from my MIL's friend Wendy (Thank you Wendy).   I really like it but I think I made a mistake using sweet onions instead of regular cooking onions or red onions.  It doesn't have much zing but it is still so fresh and so good!  I would add more jalapeno's next time also.   Also, Thank you so much to Michelle LL for emailing me your Salsa recipes.  That is a must try on our next batch me thinks!

Salsa

20 med. tomatoes

4 garlic cloves minced

3 large onions chopped

2 tbsp pickling salt  ( used Kosher)

1 large green pepper chopped

2-3 jalapeno peppers chopped

1/2 cup sugar

1 tsp oregano

2/3 cup vinegar

3 tbsp cornstarch

2 cans tomato paste

To prepare tomatoes----boil water, plunge tomatoes in water till skins begin to crack.  About 1-2 mins.  Drain, put in sink in cold water and remove and discard skins.  Chop tomatoes and put in large pot with everything else.  Cook for 15-20min (we brought it to a boil and that's it).  Be sure to stay and stir the mixture.  Fill jars and process for 20-25 mins.  Good Luck.  Note: we made 3 batches which filled 24 pints. 

Elzybells Sneak Peek Day 1

   

Is it just me or did the month since the last release just fly by??!!  Oh well, it's a good thing because I got to play with some reeeaaaally cute new Elzybells.  The stamps for this month consists of Halloween, Christmas and some miscellaneous stamps great for every day cards.  I LOVE them all!! 

I have a few items to share with you today.  This bag of caramels would be perfect to give to my dad~~~except for the fact that my mom would take them away from him and tell him he doesn't "need" them.  LOL. 

  

I used a new sentiment for the tag.  The little spider is part of a new clear set too.

   

  

I so love this little Elzy in her pumpkin costume.  So sweet.

   

Here's a close up to show that I paper pieced her costume.  The trick or treat border stamp along the bottom of the card is a new release too!

Last but not least.  A birthday card using the new Bubble Greetings clear stamp set.  Sooooo FUN to paper piece the letters.   Our niece Michlynn who lives in Texas and will be turning 12 verrry soon gave me the little chipboard sticker set with the flowers and photo corners last time they came to Canada.  This will be the card I send to her.  I am pretty sure she doesn't look at my blog so it shouldn't spoil it by showing it here. I hope :)

Want Some Buttons?

Yesterday Steph and I canned Salsa and we had so much fun doing it.  It was alot of work (a good 6 hours) but we think it was well worth it and are very happy with the results.  Here's some of the finished product.  We ended up with 24 pints in total.  If Steph posts more pics of the process I will be sure to link it up and let you know.  In fact we enjoyed it so much we went to the market today to buy all the ingredients to make pickles tomorrow!!  Oh and we are going to pickle some green and yellow beans too.  They are so good in a Ceaser.  

                  

Now for some more randomness...  In August when we were on vaca with my family my 11 yr old niece Shelby told me she had some buttons for me.  Well did she ever have buttons for me....it was a 4 litre pail full!!!  The strangest thing is that the entire container is a mix of the same 10 or 12 kinds.  She never did tell me where they came from but I will never say no to more buttons.  Haha.

Anywho...If you are interested in these I would love to share.   I will choose 2 people from comments received and send off the following amount to each...it's about 1 cup of buttons.  My very favorite are those black and white ones that look like flowers.  The turquoise ones are great too.  So yeah, if you are interested just leave a comment and I will announce 2 recipients on Monday.  Have a wonderful weekend.
