My 28~Minute~Scrap~Pile~Card

I'm back with my second go around at Jessica Witty's 10-minute-Scrap-Pile-Challenge.  Now I will say I am not in love with my cards but I am in love with using papers from that huge folder which I just throw pieces in to and never seem to go back to.  These patterned papers are so old I could never in a million years tell you who makes them.  Everything on the card is "scraps" except the brads and the card base.  I even pulled those pieces of ribbon from my "ribbon scrap pile".  Do you find yourself keeping all those little pieces of ribbon too?  I need professional help I tell ya.

I don't' have any vellum adhesive so the brads were how I attached it and once I made the holes I totally regretted the placement of that.  But the time was ticking.  Once you give yourself a time limit~~you get moving I tell ya!

Now having said that the time was ticking I have to tell you my cards too me longer than 10 mins.  In fact it was 28 minutes total and that was mostly wasted on finding the right ribbon for each card.  This mini card (sorry for the BAD pic) used the scraps cut off from my scraps and is just a 4 x 4.  Cuteness~~~and it was great to slap those on a card and use them up too.

Loonie Stampers Challenge

Merry Christmas everyone!  I don't expect anyone will be checking out blogs today but the Loonies decided to go ahead with our regular scheduled post anyway.  I am glad we did because I love the colours Maria chose.  I know the polka dot heart looks black but I think it's more a very dark blue.  I wouldn't lie or cheat.  Really.  I believe it's from Basic Grey's June Bug. 

And of course it's a heart~~~because I can't stop myself.

Embellish ~~ Snowflakes

 

Merry Christmas Eve!!  Only one more sleep!  We are in Edmonton at my sisters with my whole family.  It's going to be so great spending Christmas with all my nieces and nephews.  My 3-yr old niece, Ryann, is a little freaked out when we keep telling her Santa is coming.  My sister said she can't understand why the big man in red, that she's sees everywhere these days, is coming to her house.

I am SO in to hearts these days and couldn't help but stamp snowflakes on to one of them for my Embellish~Snowflake card.  Seeing as Valentines Day is the next holiday we card makers tend to start creating for hearts is a good thing!  I heat embossed the image with American Crafts Zing embossing powder.  Wow~~Love that stuff.

  I couldn't get a very good picture of my second card but I wanted to share it.  These colours are so happy together.  My snowflake is very glittery IRL.   Embellish will be back on January 1 with a new challenge and some very exciting and new changes.  Stay tuned!!

Trees

Hi Hi.  I just wanted to share my Christmas card design that I went with this year.  A work associate ordered some cards and I made him this same style.  I'm a little surprised that the post office didn't send half of them back for more postage.  The buttons and the sisal twine made quite the bump in the envelope.  lol.

This was my second year in a row that I went with the "tree" theme.  Can someone remind me next year to try something new....like maybe snowflakes?!!  You can see last years card here.

Loonie Stampers Challenge

OH MY WORD!  Is anyone else having a panic attack?  There is only 7 days left until Christmas!!!  It's just hit me and I feel like I have so much to do! EEK.  Why am I so last minute and do this to myself every year??  I best hurry up and share my card so I can get checking off my to-do list.

Dee chose "No colours" this week but rather had us create a Christmas card with non traditional colours. I went with Orange Zest and Aqua Mist.  Can't get much more non traditional that that but I LOVE these colours together!!

Oh and LOOK....Christmas came early to my house!!  It's the Kiwi colour I have been in love with for a long time.  Looks like I made it on the nice rather than naughty list!

Farewell Elzybells

Wow, I can't believe it's been 1 1/2 years since I joined the Elzybells DT ~~~my very first design team!  Time flies when your having fun.  Today's post is the DT's last official challenge as our term is up at the end of the year.  I truly want to Thank you Elizabeth for giving me such a wonderful opportunity.  It's been amazing to work with your adorable stamps and I will miss you a ton.   But don't worry....just because I am not 'official' doesn't mean you won't see some Elzybells love from me!  I also can't wait to see who we're going to be passing the DT torch on too.  How exciting for the new team!

The challenge for this week was Blue, Silver and White (yep...I thru in just a smidgen of red...it needed it).  I heat embossed my Tree Landscape stamp with silver powder.  OMGosh I absolutely LOVE the embossed outline!  The sentiment is from Bubble Greetings.  I stamped and embossed "Merry" twice.  Cuteness. 

To make my scalloped edge I punched 3 ovals and adhered them to the back of the blue cardstock.  So easy!  You don't need fancy border punches to create that look.  Give it a try!

What's for Dinner?

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are having a great Sunday.  We sure are at my house.  I have the laundry done, watched a couple of made for TV movies (I am such a cry baby for those sappy Sunday afternoon movies...haha) and made a HUGE pot of soup which is simmering away on the stove.  I hope it tastes as good as it smells!!  It was supposed to be Hamburger Soup and sort of still is but I think it's more appropriately called "Everything But The Kitchen Sink Soup".  When I told Mike I was renaming it I mistakingly called it Everything "Under" The Kitchen Sink Soup but that doesn't sound as appetizing does it?  LOL.   Oh, I also have a batch of homemade buns rising.  YUM-O!

Anywho....I thought I'd just share a couple of really simple cards I made a while ago but never got around to posting yet (I am such a bad blogger).  I haven't made it to my craft room this weekend yet but I hope to find an hour or two down there tonight.  It might take that long just to clear a space to work at though.

Happy Birthday Shelby~~&~~Loonie Stampers #70

Hey Everyone.  Hope you are having a great week.

I want to send out a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my amazing niece Shelby.  She is 12 today!  I cannot believe it~~~12 yrs old already.  I keep telling her to stop growing up so fast.  Not that I am worried it makes me older too....he he...no not that.  Have a wonderful day Shelby.....I wish I was there to give you a big birthday hug!  But I can't wait to see you at Christmas time!

In honour of Shelby's day I made a birthday card as my Loonie Stampers card.  Regan chose these HOT colours and can I tell you.......I love them!  LUV!!!

Can you believe that ALL of the patterned paper on this card is from my scrap folder????  Oh yeah.  Same with the brown strip and kraft piece with the sentiment on it - straight out of my little paper garbage can!  I was inspired by Jessica Witty's scrap card and knew I wanted to take on her 10-Minute-Scrap-Pile-Challenge.  I didn't time myself to see how long it did take to make but WOW do I ever love that I actually used old product and it worked!  Thanks so much for the inspiration Jessica....I hope you are going to continue with the challenges??  See my fingers crossed?

Gift Tags

The new challenge for this week over on CARDS blog was to make Holiday gift tags and this is one I came up with.  I heat embossed the little black tree image on to shiny white paper and stitched around it.  Thru on a great bow and voila!  I quite like how it turned out with the bold black, white and red even if it doesn't scream Christmas. 

I need to fess up and tell you that I made the tag below first because I didn't read the challenge very well and didn't catch on that it was meant to be HOLIDAY tags.   However I do love this tag.  It's so fun and cheery.  The blue fabric is from IKEA.  Have you ever shopped in their fabric section?  They have such incredible patterns and very reasonably priced. Here's a link for you....hope it works. 

My tag consists of the fabric layer, chipboard and then a cream card stock backing.  I was shocked when my sewing machine actually went through all the layers. And so happy!  But I don't recommend you trying it as I don't want you breaking your machine!  I didn't breathe the whole time I stitched.
