Loonie Stampers Challenge #107

 

 

Our challenge today was chosen my our one and only Dee.   She chose Rainbows.  Kinda fun right?  Well I just happened to have a rub on sentiment that was just perfect for this challenge. 

Sorry about the crappy pic.  I got home super late and didn't have very good natural light left.  One of these days I might actually use my Nikon D90 that I bought last December and be able to put a decent picture on my blog.  {Now there's a novel idea}.

Embellish Magazine - Inchie Art Squares Challenge

Seriously....the entire DT and myself were talking about how much fun we had with these wonderful little squares.  It's hard to describe how great they are but believe me they aren't just typical chipboard or anything.  In fact they are not chipboard at all. OK....so here's where you come in.  Ready to jump in and create for this challenge with us?   Here's what you have to include. 

 

Theme:  Squares

Colors: Green, Purple, Black ---- check out the colour swatches at the top of this post for the shades of green.

I wanted to share a little bit about the image on my inchie squares.  My mom had given me these 2 small vintage fabric swatches quite a while ago.  I think she said she got them at a garage sale to be honest but when she saw them she thought I could use them on a card.   So nice of her but I didn't really think I could use them.....until today! 

 

 

I attached the purple image on top of 6 inchie squares and mod podged them with a couple of top coats.  I tacked the squares down before adhering the image.  Then once it was dry I used an exacto knife to cut them apart and trim them up.  Tip:  cut from the back side so you can easily find the seams.  

 

 

The green and purple you see on my card is actully note cards from Inchie Arts as well.  They are about 3.5 square and so cute.  I used one as my upper block of paper and then punched out 2 pieces from a purple one to make my "band" across the card.

Apple of my Heart.

 

I've been having fun playing around with my new School Basics stamp set.  I am totally in love with the notebook lines.  The words are so easily and perfectly placed.  Not to mention the apple makes the most perfect DIY stamped patterned paper.

 

 

I wanted to make green "granny smith" apples.  The colours are far from traditional primary school colours but I just loved how the pink herringbone twill looked with the lime green.  Not to mention it's ties like a dream!

As I was making these cards I was thinking to myself "who am I going to give these cards to?" {{I don't have any kids}}.  But then I realized my sister can use them.  She has 3 little ones under 4 years old.  That girl has yearrrrrs of card giving to teachers ahead of her.

Loonie Stamper Challenge #106

 

TGIF!  Whew, has it ever been a long week.  Busy at work, busy at home.  The only think I'm not busy at is making cards.  In fact it was around 4pm yesterday (Thurs) when I realized I didn't have a Loonie card done for today so I hurried to my craft room and made this.  Regan's choice of using fabric for this challenge came as no surprise.  That girl is a fabric guru these days.  You should see her amazing quilts she's been making!!

 

The state of my craft room is NOT pretty people.  It's a good candidate for the Hoarders show actually, so I'm totally overwhelmed by it and hardly know where to begin.  A few items on my card below happened to be in arms reach so I just went with it.

 

 

The little pink flower with green button in the centre was made months ago and I'm so happy I finally put it to use.  To fulfill the "use fabric" requirement on our challenge I stitched some old denim onto a tag and the white scallop circles are cut from a thin material I picked up at Walmart some time ago {but I don't remember for what}. 

 

 

Have you ever wondered if you could heat emboss onto fabric?  Well, I'm here to tell you.....nope, you can't.  At least not very well.   I stamped one of my all time favorite sentiments from Technique Tuesdays Simply You (by Ali Edwards!) onto the denim using Versamark.  Then I sprinkled it with white embossing powder and started heating it up.  The embossing powder nearly disappeared.  So....I did it 2 more times.  {{good thing that TT's stamps are clear so I could line it up fairly well!}}.  What you see is the end result.  Sure it's a little blurry but I think it's pretty cool nonetheless.  ~~~Even if it just looks like I stamped it with white ink and no one would have a clue it was heat embossed.~~~

My Sneaky Peek - Only 10 days late!

 

 

I am so happy that my Mint Motif  School Basics stamp set has arrived!!  Finally! 

I sat down as soon as I got home from work and got busy creating and I have to tell you.....I LOVE it.

I heat embossed the note book lines in black and the sentiment in white.  {{This is when your Embossing Buddy becomes your best friend.}}  The words were really easy to line up and fit right in place.

Aren't these apples cute?!  The little leaf from the set was stamped onto felt and then I machine stitched some veins onto them before trimming them out.

Mint Motif Release Day !

Hi Hi,   I just wanted to let you know that I still haven't received my Mint Motif's  stamp set called School Basics  yet so I won't be able to take part in release day today. {{They were last known to be in New York on August 4 but it's anyone's guess where they are now}}.  I think you should rush over and buy your set and then when I get my stamps you and I can have our own stamp party!  Deal?

For my creation I paper pieced the aqua mist polka dot paper AND those teeny tiny edges of the dress with melon berry cardstock.  {{I cannot get over how cute this stamp set is.}}

I machine stitched 3 short rows near the bottom of the card to lead into the perfect little sentiment which, of course, goes perfectly with my tiny button and bow.  This card is for my God daugher who we are talking out for dinner on Saturday night.  She really is as cute as a button.

Loonie Stampers Challenge

Happy Friday!  I've got a fun and bright card to share with you today.   I've had this rub-on for a while now.  I believe I had a Michaels 40% coupon to use one time and bought a set of K&Company rub ons but never used them.  Anywho, it was my turn to choose colours for this weeks challenge so I went with it {but I excluded the orange}.  I didn't want to freak a certain preggo clean and simple card designer I know who has a heart attack when more than 2 colours have to be combined.  heehee. Or should I say deedee. 

I hand stitched some embroidery thread around the border.  Other than that it's all pretty easy peasy lemon squeezy!

So I must run....I'm hoping to have a productive Friday and clean the house and try to get life restored post-renovation.  The kitchen is "done" but still needs a number of deficiencies to be taken care of.  I have, however, started to fill and organize a few drawers but I don't really don't want to "use" the kitchen till it's done-done.

Loonie Stampers Challenge - #104

 

I do believe you may need your sunglasses when you check out the Loonies cards today.  Holy Moly Jewels......did a rainbow hit you in the head recently?

So here's the thing....the day I made this I wasn't feeling super creative soooooo I went to Jewels blog and found a card to case seeing as the colour choice today was hers.  Check out the card I chose here.  It was so fun to CASE her card and I'm loving the results!

 

I used my Maya Road cupcake chipboard.  I remember when these first came out I just had to have them.  I searched for weeks till they finally came home with me.  This might be the second time I've used them.  {{Hoarders is my favorite show.  Just saying.}}
