Hey! Here's my thrifty finds from garage sale'n with Stephanie yesterday. It was a good day.
I have a magazine rack identical to this in my craft room but in white. I paid $29.99 for mine at Home Sense and have been watching for another as I outgrew it. This was $3 and for that kind of savings I snatched it up and will paint it white myself. This one also still had the $29.99 sticker on the back.
The first sale we hit was a church sale and the prices were ridiculously good and so much stuff. 5 of these milk glass were from there and they were asking $.50 cents each but I gave $4.00. {{What can I say. It was a church sale and I felt too guilty only paying 50 cents each}}. The other 2 were from a garage sale and probably about $1 each as well.
This little chip and dip bowl was $0.50 cents. That is so crazy cheap. LOVE it.
Books were 5 for $1.00. I hadn't read a book in a couple of years but this last month I'm so into reading. {{I think it has something to do with the fact that my laptop is dieing a slow death so I'm not on it much anymore....haha}}. I got 5 of those New Moon books for my Twilight lovin' BFF's. {{You know who you are and yes you are worth every penny of the $0.20 cent price tag!!!}}
Misc items. Pail was $3. I have no idea what I will use it for. I found the doilies to match the larger ones from last week....$0.25 cents for both. I like these large thread spools to wind my bobbins. $0.25cent. The brass bird was $1 and is for my mom. I will spray paint it white and leave the marble base.
I am addicted to jars with glass lids. I store everything I can in a jar. Seriously, I won't even leave Girl Guide cookies in the box they come in. I didn't need these jars but I really wanted all those glass lids and got the lot for $1. The fabric scotch guard was $1 each. I bought some place-mats to stuff and use as pillows on my deck and I will spray the place-mat with this to help keep them protected from the rain if I'm not home to bring them inside.
Frames were $1 each. I told Steph I added them to my "pile" of frames which is now a total of 4. I thought I had more. Is 4 considered "a pile"? Think spray paint people!
Cast iron butterflies to hang on the fence. $1.
This container of crafty items was $0.50 cents.
I would normally never look at something like that but all these paint brushes caught my eye. The rest of the stuff already went to my neighbors kids but the paint brushes are living in my craft room. You can't go wrong getting all of those for $0.50 cents!!
I am in love with this tablecloth. It's linen and has never been out of the package. I don't know that I will be able to use it as it's small but I still had to rescue it and bring it home. $2. The metal container is some kind of bundt bread pan, I think. It had an original sticker on it from The Compleat Cook (one of my favorite gourmet kitchen stores) for $26.95. I paid $0.50 cents at the church sale. I don't think it's ever been used and even if I don't know what to use it for I figure I can store something in my pantry in it.
These melamine plates were $2.00 for the set of 8. They will be great for when my nieces and nephews are here. Mike told me they are a bit "too '70's" for his taste. I was born in 1970 so what does that say about me???!!!!
And last but NOT least, my favorite item of the day. This amazing turquoise vintage chair was $5. FIVE BUCKS and I almost didn't buy it as I didn't know where I could put it. I even walked away from that garage sale and then turned back 5 minutes later when I realized I didn't care....I had to have it. It needs a good cleaning of the vinyl but otherwise it's perfect. I have it in my craft room and Mike even commented that it looks good in there. This chair is so me!
So there ya have it. Another fun weekend of hoarding thrifty shopping. I can't wait to see what everyone else got this weekend.
