Hey my thrifty Levine friends! First up I have to tell you I did not go garage saleing this weekend as my house needed attention in a bad way. Plus is rained ALL DAY LONG so it was perfect to just be home.
I do have some items to share with you from an auction I went to in February with my dad. He and I very much the same .....we both love auctions, we love finding unique items and getting a good deal. It gets the adrenaline going that's for sure and I never tire of it. {{Hi Dad!}. You never know what you will find at an auction or what the prices will be like especially if there are dealers there. You can spot them fairly quickly.
I got these 3 Rogers Golden Syrup tins for a $10 bid. I think I will use them to store all the cookie cutters I seem to be buying {you know....for that non-existent cookie decorating hobby that I have}. Here they are displayed in my kitchen. {{The glass cloches and green gnomes are taking a break from this corner}}.
I love that someone etched their initials and a date into the largest tin 4 years before I was born.
OK so some of you are going to think I am CRA-ZY but this Farmer Peet's Lard tin is one of my most favorite purchases ever. Unfortunately, I was in a bidding war with someone and it cost me over $50. It is in my craft room and I use it to throw recycling in. The tin is quite large and once held 50lbs of lard. Yuck. {This picture was taken before it was cleaned up.}
I do have other auction buys to share but I'll save those for another weekend that I don't go garage saleing. Instead I'll show you a couple of my thrifty before and afters. This was the black magazine rack I purchased last weekend. I primed and painted it white but it's way TOO white so it has a blue hue. I need to respray it with Heirloom white so it's creamy.
And last but not least I did buy this brass magazine rack for $1 last week but didn't post a picture. Here it is now in a cute Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze. Adorable!
