Can you believe the weekend is over? They go by so fast don't they? We've been sticking close to home for the most part as our little 4 pound dog, Willow, had all her teeth pulled out on Thursday {except for 2}. I'm relieved that it's done but boy that was traumatic for her and for us puppy parents I tell ya.
But yesterday we did get out for part of the day to a few sales. Steph couldn't make it out and Mike offered to tag along and I'm so glad he did! Here's what we found. My first purchase were these little doll bed bunk beds that I will give to my 3 & 5 yr old nieces to play with. It was only $2 so I think that was definitely the price score of the day. I'm going to paint it for sure (I have some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint on pre-order) but I'm torn and don't know if I should paint it light pink or white? My first thought was light pink but what would you do?
I told myself I wasn't going to buy another tall thin milk glass but I haven't seen this pattern before and it was a buck so I gave in. The silver Christmas tree dish was $3.
We bought these for our nephew who's going into his 2nd year of college. He grew up on a farm and one of his favorite things to do is ski-dooing. {{Personally, I don't like ski-doo's because I've fallen off a couple when visiting my cousins farm when we were young. They were crazy and I'm a city girl. lol.}} These Ski-doo high ball glasses were from an antique store so we paid about $18 for them. Definitely not my usual "thrifty" price but since they are the most perfect gift for our nephew we couldn't pass them up.
This old tin cake plate and cover was $2. I totally love it. I didn't think the acorn handle could be original (because an acorn on a metal cake lid just seems odd) but if you look close at the embossed pattern on the lid there are little acorns around it.
I had it washed and in use right away when I got home. I don't bake much but I recently made banana bread and rhubarb muffins so they are under the dome. Much better than the plastic ziplock bags that were on the counter!
And now for our most favorite find of the day. To many of you this will be bizarre but we've been looking for a curling rock for at least a couple of years now. We've wanted it for a doorstop on the back deck. Mike is a curler (he's in 2 leagues twice a week) and loves the sport. This was from that same antique store and we got it for $60. That is such a steal as I think these vintage curling rocks go for $125-$200 usually.
Mike grabbed the "Brier" tobacco tin as well as that's what the Canadian Men's Curling Championship was originally named after. Who knew?! Riveting information isn't it? heehee.
Here it is doing its door stop duty. It weighs 44 pounds so believe me the wind is not going to be able to budge that door now!
