Hey Everyone! I'm posting a little project I did for Technique Tuesdays blog last September. YES, I am that disorganized that I'm only just getting around to posting it now. I know, I know....I need to smarten up!
Anywho....enjoy and have a great weekend. The summer is going to be gone before we know it so get out there and put your feet on the ground and get the sun on your face!
p.s.....I thru a piece of the heat embossed denim in the washing machine to test it's durability and none of it came off. I didn't try the dryer though.

TT asked the Stamping Techs to choose a technique to share with you all and I decided to heat emboss on fabric. In fact, I heat embossed 3 different types of fabric.......1) denim from an old pair of jeans....everyone has a pair of these they can spare. If not hit your local Goodwill store. 2) Amy Butler fabric and 3) a scrap of Ikea fabric (the red and tan one but I just wanted it for the tan part).
Here are all the supplies I used. The stamps are Pocket full of Posies, Petite Posies and Favorite Memories by Ali Edwards.
When heat embossing on fabric you have to be fast but more importantly you have to make sure that your embossing ink pad is nice and juicy. You will likely need a refill bottle handy unless your ink pad ia new. A little trick I found is tha after I poured the powder onto the stamped images I used the lid from the jar to lightly press the embossing powder into the ink. This made for a much more vibrant and solid image.
Then go ahead and heat emboss just as you would on paper. The powder didn't fly away on me as that light pressure from the lid helped keep it in place until the heat gun had a chance to melt it.
In this picture below I wanted to show the difference between heat embossing and ink on fabric. The top left sentiment is heat embossed after I pressed the powder into the ink. Nice solid image. The sentiment that is cut out is heat embossed also but I did not press the powder into the ink on that sample. It's not the one I used on the card but I was testing out how easily I could trim the sentiment out on the fabric. The bottom left image is straight brown ink and looks great too but just much more subtle. Which do you like better?
The last fabric that I stamped and heat embossed was the pretty polka dot Amy Butler fabric. It thought it turned out cute and it didn't even bother me (much) that the powder stuck in places it shouldn't have.
And last but not least here is my card I put together using my heat embossed custom fabrics. I machine stitched them onto the card, trimmed out the sentiment and dotted it with a heart!
How easy was that?! Do you think you might try this heat embossing on fabric technique? I'd love it if you did and left me a link to come to oooh and ahhhh over!
